Punjab’s Director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Friday said that the police have solved the RPG attack case which was carried out at the Sarhali Police Station, Tarn Taran on December 9.”We’ve solved the RPG attack case which was carried out at the Sarhali Police Station, Tarn Taran on December 9.

In this attack, a 70 mm caliber RPG 26 was used which was normally used by Mujahideen & it was sourced from across the border in a consignment,” Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said, as quoted by ANI.

He said that the mastermind behind the attack is Lakhbir Singh Landa, a wanted terrorist who is in Canada. “He got it executed through his 2 Europe-based handlers – Satbir Satta & Gurdev Jassal. They operated mainly through one Ajmeet Singh, who is lodged in Goindwal Sahib jail,” he added.

“In this case, so far we’ve arrested 7 people including two juveniles. We have RPG 26 and the launcher, one .32 bore pistol with 15 bullets, hand grenades, 30 bore pistol with 35 live bullets, and 32 bore pistol with 5 live bullets, and the bike used in crime is also recovered,” the Punjab DGP informed, as per ANI.

A low-intensity blast took place at the Tarn Taran Authorities Sanjha Kendra in Punjab, which the police described as an RPG strike. A case was registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.Parkash Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sarhali Kalan police station, was replaced by Sukhbir Singh.

Following the attack, NIA officers came to the Sarhali Kalan police station in Tarn Taran on Saturday evening, since the officials suspected a “terror nexus” in the event.On Friday night, an unidentified person shot a projectile at the Saanjh Kendra, which is adjacent to the Sarhali police station on the Amritsar-Bathinda highway.

There were no casualties, although window panes and a piece of the building’s wall were damaged.Seven individuals have been apprehended and questioned by police in connection with the incident.
